Lottery Article summary

The article “8 Lottery Winners Who Lost Their Millions” is about many people who have won the lottery, and have had unfortunate happenings happen. Many people who have won the lottery have lost their minds and went into debt. This is because when people get alot of money, they buy everything they can, and they usually buy more than they really need. And before they know it, they have spent all of their winnings. If people thought about what they could do with their money, then they wouldn’t end up in debt, or have no more “mega bucks” to spend. Hopefully when you read this, you think wisely about what you do with your money, I know I will.

My Reading Interests

Ilike to read fantasy and other fiction books. I like the Harry Potter series, the Artemis Fowl series, and also random books. I have a very open mind, but I am really interested in Global Warming, and what effects it has on us, and what effects we have on it. I am also interested in the War in Iraq. We shouldn’t have started the war in the first place, but now we can’t really just leave Iraq the way it is. I don’t think that George W. Bush should have ever been elected president of the USA. My favorite types of writing assignments are persuasive and informative writing. I odn’t know why I like these, but I find them fun to write. I found that Peanut_Butter, a student in Mr. Wilcoff’s class, cares alot about personal things and likes to speak their mind. This is what I like to do, but I’m not as open to what I write.

Summary of Chapters 4 & 5 of THE PEARL

Kino and Juana go to sell the pearl, but they don’t get the price that Kino thinks the pearl is worth. So, Kino and Juana decide to go to the capital to see if they can get a better price. But before they leave, Kino is attacked by someone on the beach shore, and Kino kills him for self defense. Because Kino killed someone, they plan to run away with the pearl, for safety. In Chapter 6, Kino and Juana are on their runaway journey, and they find that there are trackers following their trail. Kino plans on sneaking up on them and kills them all. But sadly, Kino gets carried away with the rifle, and shoots his child Coyotito. The story ends with Juana and Kino returning to their hometown, La Paz.

Kino won the lottery, and thought that he could fulfill all the dreams he and his family ever wanted, but people tried to take away his precious pearl. One person came digging in their house for the pearl, and injured Kino on the forehead. Another man tried to steal the pearl, and slashed Kino across the face. The pearl, though worth alot, brought misfortune to Kino’s family, and made them even more unhappy than when they were poor.
